Return from the Wilderness.

Swapna Abraham: LIVE,14th September 2011

On the 14th September 2011, The Holy Spirit Interactive- Jebel Ali Community had the honor of witnessing one of the most powerful and anointed come backs ever- Swapna Abraham is back!

14TH SEPT 2011, what an evening it was!!! Truly exhilarating!!! I’m talking about Wednesday evening when the basement in Jebel Ali church resounded with songs of praise and worship to God Almighty sung by Swapna Abraham’s angelic voice

Swapna truly rocked the place in the true sense of the word. I was one of the fortunate ones that got a seat before the place got packed, which was in itself a testament to Swapna’s God given talent and artistic brilliance.

After a wonderful Praise & Worship session by the HSI choir, Swapna took off on her Spirit-led session touching the congregation’s hearts. She started with her heart rendering testimony which, for me, mirrored the parable of the Prodigal Son. In her own words, she was always with our Lord but circumstances made her drift away and now after 6 tumultuous years she returned from the wilderness to worship and praise a loving and ever forgiving God. I believe that we were truly blessed to be a part of the celebration of her return just as there was joy and celebration on the return of the prodigal son.

She spoke of her life in brief, about when it all started going downhill for her and how from an openly confident person she became a recluse. However, our God is an immensely loving God. He would never let His child keep her talents dormant for long and worked in His own way to bring His lost sheep back into the light.Swapna acknowledged that God spoke to her through Br. Aneel during his preaching in Chennai which she had attended and so began her return to God.  God Bless them.

She then started off her session with a disclaimer stating that she hadn’t touched a keyboard or sung all this time but it really didn’t seem so considering the ease with which the notes flowed from her keyboard!.

Romans 11:29; says "For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable". Meaning that he will never take back his gifts if he has blessed you with them, they’re irrevocable!  Praise to our loving and ever giving God!!

From some common songs along with some of her own compositions she got the whole congregation dancing and singing aloud with joyous praise.

Matthew 18:3 says “Unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”.

I could not help but notice the child-like joy and innocence in her singing, dancing and especially when she was “ kicking the devil “ or “crushing him under her feet”, You see sheer joy on a child’s face when he or she gets a prized gift and goes to share it with her friends, and I saw  the same on Swapna’s face, as she shared the gift of her comeback to the Lord with all of us.

From “ The Lord Is My Tower “ to the “ Pharaoh’s Song”  we all joined in childlike enthusiasm and at that time I truly felt like God’s precious little child .

The  two hours of non-stop praise seemed like a breeze and I wanted even more.

All in all it was a most memorable evening for me as I came face to face with Swapna and also got  an opportunity to talk to her someone whom I had always admired for her beautiful God gifted voice and heard so much about.

In conclusion  I’d like to make this prayer:
"Dear Jesus, may Swapna  always be covered with Your precious blood and may she continue to carry on Your work for which You created her. Let her proclaim Your name with songs of praise throughout the world, touching and transforming the hearts of everyone who hears her. I make this prayer in the name of Jesus my lord."

Amen.
