How hard is it to wait on the Lord?
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end”
Quite often, we all find ourselves pushing God to do things for us. We try and tell him what to do and push ahead of his perfect plan for us- and most of the time, when we do that- the outcome isn’t pretty at all. How can we give God a time line to work on, when God is in fact the master of all time!
Jesus, being the son of God, had to wait on his father as well. The wedding at Cana serves as a perfect example ( John 2:1-11) where we see Jesus telling his Mother, Mary, that his "hour had not yet come".
Surrendering to the will of God, does not only mean doing God work in our lives, but also surrendering to his will in our lives- the timing included!
I came across this poem captioned “ In his time” by Jerry Gerald Bouey. I hope it serves as an inspiration to you, just as how it has for me.
In His time
In his time,He makes all things beautiful
With tear-dimmed eyes, we may not see how.
Keep on trusting in your Father's wisdom,
Do not fear - you're in His hands right now.
Keep on trusting in your Father's wisdom,
Do not fear - you're in His hands right now.
Jesus Christ, your Saviour and Redeemer,
Loves you so - of that you need not doubt.
He has a plan - thoughts of peace, for your good -
His plan, that He is working out.
In His time, He makes all things beautiful -
Working all according to His plan;
He has a purpose He set in motion -
Even though we may not understand.
Working all according to His plan;
He has a purpose He set in motion -
Even though we may not understand.
Father, perfect that which concerneth me -
Help me, Lord, to lay these burdens down.
Grant me peace, to know I am in Your will;
Strengthen me, with joy surround.
In His time, He makes all things beautiful -
He heals the soul, binds up the broken heart.
He comforts with a grace beyond all measure -
Hope in Him, and let Him do His part.
He heals the soul, binds up the broken heart.
He comforts with a grace beyond all measure -
Hope in Him, and let Him do His part.
He knows your needs before you even ask Him.
Give Him your cares - whether great or small.
Just trust the Lord - He knows the best time
To make all things beautiful!
-Jerry Gerald Bouey
The next time we find ourselves pushing ahead, let's remember the words of the song, "In His time"-
In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day
As You're teaching me Your way
That You do just what You say
In Your time.
He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day
As You're teaching me Your way
That You do just what You say
In Your time.
